Open, practice, and submit assignments

Assignments are available to practice and submit on the iPad once you've enrolled in a class. Your teacher can send you assignments created from SmartMusic Classic repertoire, MP3 audio files, and Finale-Created SmartMusic accompaniments. Response assignments must be completed on a computer.

  1. Log in.
  2. Tap to see your assignments. The badge at the top tells you how many assignments you have.
  3. Tap a piece to practice and submit the assignment.
  4. Tap Past Assignments to check your assignment grades or to open and practice assignments that you've already submitted.

To practice and submit an assignment

After you open an assignment, Assignment Details appear.

  1. Review the assignment and then tap Done. The assigned music appears.
  2. If you need to review the assignment requirements again, tap Assignment Details.

  3. Record takes and review your results.
  4. Use the controls to help you practice the assignment. You can:
  5. Once you've recorded the take that you want to submit, tap the take and tap Submit Take.
To perform and submit a sight reading assignment

After you open an assignment, Assignment Details appear.

  1. Review the assignment and tap Done. Sight reading instructions appear.
  2. When you open a sight reading assignment, a part is automatically selected for you. To change your part, tap the currently selected part and select a new one from the list.

  3. Tap . SmartMusic Classic displays your study time above the music, and begins to count down.
  4. Study the music and get ready to play. The countoff starts once the study time ends.
  5. After the countoff, perform the assignment. When you finish, SmartMusic Classic submits the take to your teacher automatically.
To perform and submit a sight singing assignment

After you open an assignment, Assignment Details appear.

  1. Review the assignment and tap Done. Sight singing instructions appear.
  2. When you open a sight singing assignment, a part is automatically selected for you. To change your part, tap the currently selected part and then select a new one from the list.

  3. Tap . Listen for the prep notes. SmartMusic Classic displays your study time above the music and begins to count down.
  4. Study the music and get ready to play. Once the study time ends, SmartMusic Classic plays the prep notes and then starts the countoff.
  5. After the countoff, perform the assignment. When you finish, SmartMusic Classic submits the take to your teacher automatically.

The badges on and show only the number of assignments that appear on the iPad.
